Independence Day: From the Perspective of Dinah

I can't read my child's mind, unfortunately.  Man, if I could, my life would be a lot simpler!  But, this is the way I imagine she would describe her first 4th of July weekend.

Hi! It's me, Dinah.  I had the coolest weekend.  Mom and Dad loaded me in the car, and headed out west to visit my Auntie M.  She just moved to a new place about a month ago and they decided we should surprise her with her first visitors.  We left when Mom & Dad got off work, and drove about 8 hours.  It wasn't bad.  I slept the whole way, except for when we stopped for supper.
We drove through Texas as the sun set, and it was really pretty...or so I hear.  I was asleep, ya know.

I had so much fun playing with my Auntie M & Uncle Cooper! They have dogs, and I love animals! And, Auntie M gives me lots of hugs and kisses and attention...I LOVE it! She thought it was funny to put a washcloth on my head.  I just went with it.  Mom was a total slacker, and spent most of our time hanging out and enjoying family and didn't get many pics while we were there.

We decided to take a different route home, take our time, and stop for the night to make it a mini-vacation.  I stayed in my first hotel.  While we were there, I got to go swimming for the first time in a real pool.  It was AWESOME.  I really like water.

When we stopped for lunch, I tried some broccoli from the salad bar.  It was pretty and green, and easy to handle, so I liked it.

We were going to go to the zoo, but when we got there, I was asleep and it looked pretty small and run down, so we didn't go.  But, we went to Petco because it was right by our hotel, and I saw some really fun animals there.  The birds there are way more colorful than the ones at home.

On our way home, we stopped in a little town, and went to Atwoods so I could get out of the car for awhile.  Mom let me try on some boots.  I thought they were neat, especially the tag.  Mom thought they were SO CUTE on me.  She just thinks I'm cute in general, though.

We had so much fun.  It was great to see family, but get to go somewhere different for a change.
